This works really well and gives learners ownership of their Inquiry.

Learning Areas: Unit of Inquiry (UOI) ‘Celebration Time’ – SOSE, Art,
Social Areas: Respect, Risk Taking, Communicator, Inquirer, Open- Minded
Objective: To encourage questions related to our UOI. Promote discussion, ideas and reflection.
Task Description:
n Questions written by learner, anonymously if preferred (after briefing on appropriate questions and questioning strategies).
n 2-3 questions per week chosen to investigate, how we will investigate
n Questions sent home in daily Communication Book and/or Homework Book
n Follow up discussion in groups, then whole class sharing ideas.
n The questions spawn further question which get written on the wall and the cycle continues.
n Students decide on ‘Star Questions’ which get put on card in the shape of a star and displayed – questions that we cannot really find a definitive answer to.
n Star Questions are re-examined throughout the unit and remain up throughout the year – I try to not to let my units ‘end’ just because of term break or the moving on to another unit. I have found learners often come up with ideas long after. (Original idea taken from the IBO OCC)
